Laser Hair Removal

Experience Luxaderm’s advanced laser hair removal in Regina using Ruby 695 nm and IPL technology for safe, effective, and lasting hair reduction on all skin types.

The technology behind better results

At Luxaderm, we use a medical-grade laser platform featuring both Ruby 695 nm and IPL (550–695 nm) technology for hair reduction.

  • 🔬 Ruby 695 nm wavelength: One of the most precise light wavelengths for targeting melanin in the hair follicle. It’s highly effective on fine to medium hair and lighter skin types, offering exceptional long-term reduction.

  • 🌈 Intense Pulsed Light (IPL): Our IPL hand-piece broadens the treatment range, making it ideal for customizing to different hair and skin types. It emits controlled pulses of light to gently heat and disable hair follicles without damaging surrounding skin.

  • 💎 Dual benefits: Using both Ruby laser and IPL technologies allows for customized protocols—whether you’re treating smaller delicate areas or larger zones like legs or back.

  • ❄️ Comfort and safety: Our Cryo cool air Zimmer and adjustable fluency settings keep the skin protected and comfortable throughout the session.

This combination makes Luxaderm one of Regina’s most advanced options for laser hair removal—achieving faster, smoother, and longer-lasting results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is laser hair removal?

We use two different technologies at Luxaderm for our laser hair removal procedures. We offer 695nm Ruby permanent hair removal for smaller more stubborn areas and we offer IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology for larger areas, IPL delivers broad-spectrum light to target and disable hair follicles.

Is this the same as traditional laser treatments?

Not exactly. While both methods use light energy, IPL uses a broad spectrum, whereas traditional lasers use a single wavelength. IPL can treat larger areas more quickly and is generally more versatile, though it may require more sessions.

Will the results be permanent?

Treatments significantly reduce hair growth long-term. Many clients enjoy smooth skin for months or even years. However, some maintenance sessions may be needed depending on your hair type, skin tone, and hormonal changes.

Does it hurt?

Most people describe the feeling as a mild snapping sensation or warmth on the skin. It's generally well-tolerated and less painful than waxing or traditional laser methods.

How many sessions will I need?

Most clients see noticeable results after 6 to 10 sessions, spaced about 4 weeks apart. Hair grows in cycles, so multiple treatments are necessary to target all follicles effectively.

What areas can be treated?

Any area that grows hair! Common treatment areas include:

  • Face (upper lip, chin, jawline)

  • Underarms

  • Arms and legs

  • Bikini line

  • Knuckles and Toes

  • Chest and back

We tailor treatments based on your skin and hair type for the best results.

Who is a good candidate for this treatment?

The treatment works best on individuals with lighter skin and darker hair, as the light targets pigment in the hair. It’s less effective on very light (blonde, grey, or red) hair and not recommended for very dark skin tones.

Are there any side effects?

Mild redness, swelling, or a warm sensation may occur after treatment, similar to a light sunburn. These effects usually subside within 24 hours. Serious side effects are rare when treatments are performed correctly.

How should I prepare and care for my skin?

Before your session:

  • Avoid tanning and sun exposure for 2 weeks

  • Shave the treatment area no more than 24 hours before

  • Don’t wax or pluck for 4 weeks

  • We cannot perform the procedure on those taking light sensitive medications or pregnant women.

After your session:

  • Stay out of the sun and apply SPF if you do go in the sun.

  • Keep the skin moisturized (after 48 hours)

  • Avoid exfoliating or using active skincare for 48 hours

Aftercare:

What to do after the treatment:

- Keep the area cool and calm. Apply a soothing gel like aloe vera to reduce redness and discomfort or a cold compress.

-Moisturize regularly. Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to keep skin hyrdated. Avoid heavy or scented lotions for 48 hours.

-Protect your skin from the sun. Avoid sun exposure for at least 2 weeks post treatment. Always apple broad-spectrum SPF-30+ when outdoors, even on cloudy days.

- Let treated hair fall out naturally. Hairs may shed over the next 7-14 days. Do not pluck, wax or thread- shaving is okay if needed.

-Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water to support skin healing from the inside out.

What to avoid:

-No hot showers, saunas, or steam rooms. Avoid heat for 24-48 hours, as it can irritate the treated skin.

-Skip intense workouts. Exercise that causes heavy sweating should be avoided for 24-48 hours.

-Don't exfoliate or use harsh products. Avoid scrubs, retinoids, acids (AHAs/BHAs) and active skincare for at least 3-5 days.

-Avoid tight clothing. Let your skin breath and reduce friction to avoid irritation.

-No tanning. Artificial tanning methods can increase sensitivity and should be avoided throughout your treatment plan.
